What is your idea to address an unmet need of service members, veterans and their families?

We have packing parties all across America at the veterans halls, VFW's and retirement centers so that the veterans can send boxes to our troops. We are run by military moms all across the country. by doing this not only do we send some love and support to our troops, but it helps us moms and wives find each other and come together for a common good.

What specific population do you plan to work with? What is their unmet need?

deployed troops --- of course being deployed they cant run to the store, or more important see their family. We try to be both help on a needs and emotional basis.

What is your implementation plan, and how would the $1,000 be used?

to send the boxes to the troops —-each flat rate box must go post office at a 14.95 charge per box

How are volunteers the key ingredient to your solution?

volunteers ARE the ingredient as we have no paid person in the organization, our military volunteers for America, we volunteer for them.

The reason that Molly's Adopt a Sailor is such a special group is because they are ALL volunteers! No one gets a paycheck and our troops are the ones that get the love!

I 100% agree with the comment below --heck all comments below, but the truth is we are such an amazing community of family of the troops, and of course the troops themselves and our beloved veterans who have been there and done that. This group does so much more than support our troops, we support one another and all driven by a true deep LOVE for those who give their freedom for us. We are the Moms, the Dads, the wives ,the children of , the mothers of loss of a child in service, the veterans who have given and so many others, ---- we see the front line, we just see it from a different view !! And I for one am Blessed to part of the community of the military family ~ Money or not I say we have already won folks --just by knowing each other we have won !!! Bless our Troops

I have been involved with Molly's for over a year. This group of ladies wants nothing more to show our deployed troops that they are loved, missed, and cared for. They give up so much for us and it's a great feeling to be able to give back by bringing a smile to a face far from home.

Molly's Adopt a Sailor has been a passion for over 4 years. It's when a deployed trooper says they can't sleep the night before a mail drop, hoping someone remembers them. It's the thanks that give you warm fuzzies and chills at the same time, when they are the ones putting their lives and families on hold and on the line. I've personally also adopted members of all troops, some of whom it has been my fortune to actually meet and hug. Love our troops.

As a military mom I have been to many a packing party across the states and I must say to see our vetrans from WWII , Korea and Vietnam pack boxes for those who are in service today is a real highlight for me ---the smiles on these veterans faces is priceless, and for the moms and families its so nice to have the connection with one another its helps to know we are not alone. As for the troops ---well based on the emails we get , we are so genuin about our love for them I know we have created many many smiles and truth is if you can create a smile during hard times is again PRICELESS !!! Bless all our troops and those who support them !

As spouse of a Sailor and a Veteran (Navy), having some "Motherly" love sent to you while deployed can lift a Sailors spirit. Nothing is more depressing then when mail call is announced and you have NO mail or care package from home. I have seen many sad faces and heard the stories from our Sailors about this. Molly and here momma's provide a "service" of "We Ship Love", that you can't really put a price tag on. They lift the spirits of our men and women in the Military. This all started because Molly's son said some of his shipmates didn't receive mail. This "one" mom took it upon herself to make sure this Sailor felt love. The kindness and caring of these "Moms" just melts my heart. I can't express enough of how much this money is needed to help with shipping costs. All this just to put a smile upon a Sailor, Solider, Marine, Airman, Coast Guard is worth more than the cost of a "If it ships, it fit's box"! It is truly a "PRICELESS" moment, when the call comes for mail call and EVERY Sailor on board has something to open! You can't beat that.

As a mom of a new sailor I was thrilled to find Molly's. The love that they put into all they do is amazing. I love that I can be a part of something so special. And the feedback from the men and women that receive these boxes is something that is so heartwarming. For them to know that there are people back home that care enough to do this for them is something that means more than us civilians will ever know. Molly's is Amazing.

I'm one of the Molly Momma's that help to ship LOVE to our deployed troops - it's amazing to see how far this organization has come in such a short time. did you know that in just 4 years we have adopted over 20,000 individual troops??? I am blessed to count these women as my sisters. We need all the help we can get to continue sending love...

This is a good thing especially for morale, because some people Cali to realize that some troops and soliders actually do not have family members or have the typical family dynamic whatever the reason may be. I was fortunate to have a nana who not only sent me stuff, but sent those special individuals things too to show them someone does care that you do exist in the world. God bless

Molly's Adopt A Sailor is a non-profit organization that sends packages to all branches of the military. It is made up of volunteers that are wives, mothers, friends and anyone who wants to give their time to the military. I belong to "We Stitch Love" part of MAS. We sew pillow cases and neck wraps for our sailors & soldiers. My son Ben is on the USS Abraham Lincoln and I am very proud to belong to this group.

Molly Mom's Rock and I hope everyone votes so they have money to ship the items they buy out of their own pockets to send to our Men and Women serving our country. This grant would help with the postage. Thanks for anyone that support them. Sally Des Plaines, IL Mom of a Navy Sailor.

Molly's Adopt a Sailor (affectionately know as Mission Molly Moms) supports all branches of the military ~ WITHOUT QUESTION! What I find amazing about this wonderful group is how much support is given to not only our troops but to the community, the families of the military and to various groups and organizations. They touch so many lives in such a positive way, they deserve to win!

Care packages are such an important boost to morale. Deployment is tough and a bit of home in a package is a great encouragement. Molly's Adopt a Sailor does an amazing job of getting packages to troops. Many who do not have a support system on the home front get support from home because of MAS. HooYah to Molly and her crew!

Molly and her organization Molly's Adopt A Sailor is awesome. She sends care packages out to a lot of our military. When she found out that my nephew was serving in Afghanistan and when he had his laundry sent out and his socks didn't return, she sent him a care package with socks, plus a lot of other goodies for him. He was delighted to received something from a complete stranger. Thank you Molly for all that you do for our Military!!!!

I have known Molly an her Adopt a Sailor organization almost since the beginning. I have never met a more sincere woman in my life. The military personnel that receive the care packages are more than grateful. Some have found new people to call family when they needed them most. It's all volunteer and straight from the heart! Thank you Molly!

The Molly's Adopt A Sailor project is how we can thank our military for the "gift" they give us. The gift is their volunteer service and sacrifice to protect our freedom. It seems fitting that we let them know that they are appreciated and not forgotten.
